Program Description:

UNINTER Cuernavaca

Gain insight into Mexican daily life and forge life long friendships by staying with a host family! Because a SMC professor will be traveling with students, there must be a minimum enrollment of 12 students for the program to be offered. The next semester that this program will be offered is SPRING 2019.

Program Highlights

  • A variety of academic options accommodate intermediate to advance Spanish speakers
  • Study with Mexican and other international students, while earning SMC credit
  • Travel throughout Mexico! The program includes 2 excursions to different parts of Mexico on weekends and/or during school breaks
  • Stay connected to the Lasallian mission through community service work in partnership with De La Salle University, Cuernavaca and Caminando Unidos
NOTE: This study abroad program is offered ONLY in the Spring Semester 2017 and Spring 2019; there is a minimum of 12 students to be enrolled to this program in order for the program to be offered.

UNINTER Pre-Approved Courses

***Please note that the following pre-approved courses may not be available during your time of travel. These courses were pre-approved due to previous students who have studied abroad during different terms. Please cross reference the host university’s course catalog in order to  view which courses are fitting to your specific term. Even if the course has not been approved, you may still chose it as we are willing to help you get it approved***

Eligibility Requirements
  • At least sophomore year standing;
  • An average of a 2.8 minimum cumulative AND major GPA;
  • Confirmation of a clear record of disciplinary conduct with Residence Life
Application Process
  • Click on the "Apply Now" button on top right hand of this page to begin the process
  • Deadlines: October 1st for Spring Semester start programs
  • Selection results will be announced early November for Spring Semester start programs
  • SMC Study Abroad Deposit ($600) will be due upon acceptance

Students live with Mexican Host Families as a means to enhance students' Spanish skills and their understanding of Mexican culture.  Students will be matched with a host family to ensure satisfaction.  Families will provide meals, laundry and a familial living environment for a deep language and culture immersion experience.
